Work History
Ian has over 20 years work experience covering; retail, manufacturing and financial services. His first job from graduating was with the Wales Tourist Board as Regional Finance Officer. His subsequent work has focused on management accounting issues, business statistics and research, plus the development of spreadsheet applications for business.
His major clients have included: KPMG (London), Yorkshire Dales National Park, Skipton Building Society, Rolls Royce, ARM, Bank of England, Johnson & Higgins, Zurich Re, and the Bermuda Insurance Institute.
Passionate about adult education, on the lecture circuit he’s covered; finance, business statistics and business decision-making and has been a guest speaker for courses at Leeds Met and University of Huddersfield.
An avid learner throughout his working life, his formal qualifications include:
- Chartered MCIPD member
- BA (Hons) in Business Studies – majored in accounting, statistics and IT
- ACII (Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute).
- Postgraduate Teaching Certificate in Further Education
He is a member of the UK business organisation SEPG (Self Employed Professionals Group) and is Deputy Treasurer for a local CIPD branch.
Ian now wants to transfer the experiences gained with national clients and lecturing to directly support the development of SME’s and business start-ups through consultancy and one-to-one coaching services. He also continues to deliver a unique FFNFM programme (finance for non-financial managers) to bigger companies and other third-party training providers (either spreadsheet based or through an extended workbook programme).
His recent skills update included attending a number of Anthony Robbins programmes in California and Brussels. This included the Life Mastery and Finance Programmes. This experience and the NLP skills acquired from these courses are fully factored into all the work that he does.

Outside Work
lan has a great family life, married over 25 years with two children, Amy and Peter (both now at university).
Ian enjoys walking, cycling and sailing. Last year, he completed the last leg of the Dales Way walk from Windermere to Dent about 40 miles in two days! Next year, he plans to climb Ben Nevis – the only major UK mountain he has yet to climb!
Ian sails from Ipswich Haven Marina in Suffolk on a Bavaria 34 (a fin keel yacht) around the Suffolk coast and Thames estuary, with occasional trips to Holland.
He also enjoys posting the occasional tweet and updating his Facebook page.

Second Passion
Outside his coaching work and family life, Ian has always maintained an active interest in young people’s education. He is currently a non-executive director within the LocalBiz Project.
This is a unique learning programme utilises innovative web-based technologies which provide young people with the opportunity build skills sets ready for tomorrow’s world.
